by sarah | January 7, 2017 | Wedding Planning Guides

When it comes to deciding on music for your wedding, most couple’s attention will turn straight to that first dance; you’ll either have that special song right away, or you’ll spend hours trying to pick your favourite.

But don’t forget you’ll need music for the ceremony too, especially if you’re having a civil wedding and not getting married in a church or other place of worship.

There are three main areas where couples typically have music playing, and we’ve put together a list of the most popular songs at Heaton House Farm for each section of the ceremony.

Hopefully it will you give you some inspiration and help you make your choices!

The entrance of the bride

When you make your big entrance, you’ll want some music to guide you down the aisle. You could opt for something classical that immediately makes you think “wedding”, or choose a more modern song that inspires feeling of love.

The top 3 at Heaton House Farm, are:

  • A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
  • Canon in D – Pachelbel
  • How Long Will I Love You – Ellie Goulding

Signing the register

Where you hold your ceremony will determine where the registry table sits, and as you and your partner, along with your witnesses, head over to officially sign for your marriage, you might want to play some background music for your guests.

The three most popular songs at Heaton House Farm were:

  • All of Me – John Legend
  • How Long Will I Love You – Ellie Goulding
  • A Thousand Years – Christina Perri

Walking down the aisle as newlyweds

Once you’ve tied the knot together, you’ll have the first opportunity to embrace as a married couple and walk down the aisle between family and friends.

  • Marry You – Bruno Mars
  • Rule The World – Take That
  • A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
  • Greatest Day – Take That

There where some other beautiful songs that didn’t make it on to the top 3 lists,  however we thought they couldn’t miss out on being featured!
