The day after they celebrated being together for 10 years, Nick shouted Sharon to come downstairs…
Their sons were stood in front of the Christmas tree wearing t-shirts saying, ‘Will you marry our dad?’ and Nick got down on one knee to ask Sharon to be his wife.
Although the proposal came as a huge surprise, Sharon could not wait to start planning and already had an idea of what colour scheme she wanted!
Initially, Sharon booked a marquee but upon seeing photos on Facebook of a wedding at Heaton House Farm, she changed her mind.
“It looked stunning on the pictures and I loved the drapes, lighting and the views just looked stunning.”
They came along for a viewing at Heaton House Farm and when they saw how their ceremony might look Under the Night Sky, they knew they had found their dream venue. Sharon even shed a few tears at how beautiful it all was!
Once they had booked a date, Sharon started the search for her dream dress… or rather, dream dresses! Although Nick didn’t know, his bride-to-be had picked to have two dresses for the big day.
A self-confessed ‘girly girl’, Sharon loved the idea of walking down the aisle as a princess on her wedding day so looked for a dress that would make her dreams come true.
A white ballgown with a fitted bodice covered in diamonds and a full skirt, Sharon chose a traditional princess style gown full of sparkle to wear for the ceremony.
She also chose a mermaid style dress with a longer fitted bodice, ruffled flare, sparkly belt and extra diamonds to change into after.
A simple silver tiara, necklace and veil completed both looks perfectly which meant Sharon’s transition during the day was effortless.
Once both of her dresses and accessories were bought, Sharon turned her attention to finding the dresses for her four bridesmaids. She chose full length silver sequin dresses for her sister, best friend and her two sisters-in-law to wear.
Sharon had decided from day one that Nick and the groomsmen would have short sleeve shirts as she thought this would look smarter for their May wedding. She also decided that they shouldn’t wear jackets as they would only be on the back of their chairs within half an hour.
They chose smart grey trousers and a matching waistcoat, paired with a silver tie, pocket watch and white corsage; everyone looked wonderful and the outfits coordinated brilliantly together!
Sharon continued her colour scheme into the décor ensuring everything was sparkly enough for her big day! Silver sequin table cloths twinkled underneath the lights and the white blossom trees looked particularly elegant as the centerpieces.
With everything sparkling, it was time for Sharon and Nick to prepare for their special day.
A white aisle carpet and blossom trees on white pillars created a gorgeous setting for their ceremony as everything glittered Under the Night Sky.
Sharon cried again when she saw how beautiful everything looked and walked up the aisle towards Nick as a violin version of Ariana Grande’s ‘One Last Time’ played.
With vows exchanged, it was time for Sharon’s quick outfit change before they made their way out of the Oak Barn to see all their guests, ready and waiting outside to cover the newly-weds in handfuls of confetti!
The weather was gorgeous, so everyone made their way outside to enjoy their sparkly reception drinks whilst the photographer captured some beautiful shots of Sharon and Nick walking around the grounds.
Everyone loved the big reveal of Steele’s Barn and the guests took their seats for Sharon and Nick’s entrance.
Sharon’s father, Nick and his two best men performed lovely speeches that had everyone laughing or shedding a tear. Although Sharon had worried about the speeches, they were all perfect.
Afterwards, they enjoyed a three-course meal served by Vanilla in Allseasons, starting with chicken parfait, a roast chicken main followed by chocolate garden pots and apple crumble.
Once everyone had finished their meals, it was time to make their way towards the bar for the evening entertainment.
A saxophonist played along to the music and proved a huge hit with everyone, as did the glitter face-painting station, photobooth and sweet cart!
Sharon and Nick made their way to the dancefloor to cut the cake and perform their first dance.
Taking to the stage, ‘Stick with You’ by The Pussycat Dolls played as Sharon and Nick performed their first dance under the falling confetti.
The dancing continued into the early hours ending Mr and Mrs Housley’s day perfectly.
Sharon’s Memorable Moment
“I can honestly say that I enjoyed every single minute if the day. And if I could go back, I wouldn’t change a thing or have done anything any differently.”
What did Nick think?
“I was happy to leave it in Sharon’s hands. I didn’t really have much input (my choice) and didn’t really know what she had planned to be honest, but she did a great job and I don’t think I would have done any better”
Advice for future couples
“It’s your day so have and book what you want. It would be easy to think of what others would want etc. so have no regrets. Enjoy every minute of the day and don’t stress! If you want it – have it.”
