Heaton House Farm’s 20th Charity Anniversary with The Houghton Weavers

by o-hine | October 7, 2016 | Events

We were honoured to be joined by the Houghton Weavers to host our 20th Charity Anniversary on Sunday 25th September for an evening of music, laughter and most importantly, lots of fundraising for a well deserved charity.

We have hosted many events here over the last 20 years which have collectively raised over half a million pounds for local and national charities.

In September 1996 we held our first major charity event which The Houghton Weavers performed; this event raised £1,251.22 for local charity, The Midlands Air Ambulance. We are pleased to announce we topped this total this year raising a grand total of £1,745.34.

The Midlands Air Ambulance is run by local people, for the local people and does a fantastic job reaching those in need in locations other emergency services are unable to reach quickly.

Mick Heath, the owner of Heaton House Farm, began the concert with a welcome to over 200 special guests, some of which attended the original concert and couldn’t wait to see the venue and the group perform again. He said: “For each incident the Air Ambulance attends, it costs £1600 but could save somebody’s life. We have called the Air Ambulance out to the venue twice and we would like to return the thanks to them with events like tonight.”

The line up for our evening was original members Tony Berry and Steve Millington who were joined by Tony’s Brother Jim due to official third member of the trio, David Littler, currently taking time off due to having a triple heart bypass. We would like to wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.

The first set included classics such as James Taylor and Carole King’s ‘You’ve Got a Friend’ and traditional folk song ‘In My Liverpool Home’ which had the audience in fits of laughter.

After the first hour of entertainment the Heath Family alongside the event coordinator Charlotte, took to the front of the stage to draw the tickets for the raffle and auction off the wonderful donations by some of our suppliers.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors and raffle prize donations for the evening including:

Auction Items

  • Forest Gin – A bottle of Forest Gin
  • Possibilities – A beautiful Orchid
  • Heaton House Events Staff Member Brad Linney – Chance Eau Fraiche perfume

Donations

The Houghton Weavers were welcomed back on to the stage for another set of humorous poems and songs before ending on an encore with the room filled with laughter and applause.

We hope all of our special guests enjoyed their evening as much as we did. Thank you for coming and supporting a wonderful charity and helping us celebrate 20 years of fundraising.
