One morning, Divya was woken by Kieran and told they were going on a surprise walk. She had no idea where they were heading, and after a four-hour long drive Kieran placed a blindfold over her eyes to keep the destination a secret.
They parked up and set off on a trek. Arriving at the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall in the Lake District, Kieran got down on one knee and proposed, despite the rain that meant he had one muddy knee for the rest of the day!
The whole experience was a lovely surprise for Divya and Kieran made sure their proposal was really special.
The first thing they wanted to decide was what time of year they wanted to get married. Divya knew she didn’t want a summer wedding as she prefers the colder weather so she wanted to look at the autumn season. Also, Kieran proposed whilst completing his post-graduate diploma and did not want to get married until he had finished his exams in September.
October was the perfect month for both of them!
With a month in mind, they started searching for the ideal venue for their special day. They had decided to both select two venues each to go and view.
Kieran chose to look at two venues that had been recommended to him by family members, and Divya chose to do some googling to find her two options.
Divya had her heart set on a venue that was a little different to the typical hotel banqueting suites that usually host Asian weddings and wanted somewhere with breath-taking scenery. After searching for terms like ‘barns’ and ‘wedding under the stars’, Heaton House Farm came up and looked like it would tick all of their boxes…
They came along for a viewing and fell in love with the layout, the organisation and helpfulness of all the staff as well as the exclusivity that Heaton House Farm offers.
“The layout of Heaton is very well thought out allowing your wedding to be layered with surprises in different rooms. What impressed us even more than the venue itself was how well polished the organisation of Heaton is. The staff are all excellent and very friendly, they provide an excellent wedding planner service, and everything is delivered to an extremely high standard”
With a love of stargazing, the Night Sky ceremony area was perfect for them. They also loved the beautiful accommodation rooms and appreciated the little touches that the team add to ensure the venue always looks immaculate.
With Saturday 20th October 2018 booked and confirmed at Heaton House Farm, Divya and Kieran started planning all the other extra details that would make their day perfect.
They had decided they wanted an autumnal theme with candles, flowers and warm lighting that would perfectly encompass the feeling of the season.
Springbank helped bring Divya and Kieran’s vision to life as they bought together a beautiful autumnal scheme complete with a long trestle table running the length of the barn covered in deep red tablecloths and gorgeous gold structures complete with delightful floral arrangements.
To complement the décor theme, Divya chose a gorgeous deep red and gold dress with an accompanying apple green chumni.
Her eight bridesmaids also had shararas in the same apple green colour.
Kieran also matched the colour scheme as he chose a grey suit with an apple green waistcoat and tie for himself and all the groomsmen.
With everything organised, it was time for their special day!
Divya and her bridesmaids got ready in the Pamper Room for a Milni ceremony before the civil ceremony that would take place later that afternoon.
Afterwards, the guests made their way to the Night Sky and took their seats to wait for Divya’s entrance. She walked up the aisle to an instrumental version of Perfect by The Piano Guys.
The civil ceremony was perfect as Divya and Kieran got married underneath the stars.
Everyone made their way to the lawn where a grand carousel was waiting to entertain all the guests and three different food stalls provided delicious food to suit everyone’s tastes.
The new Mr and Mrs Sohail managed to get a few moments together as the photographer rook them down to the stunning Water Gardens to capture some beautiful shots.
Divya and Kieran then got changed into different outfits for the evening reception whilst guests were invited to enjoy canapes and mocktails before their 3 course-meal was served.
Payal created a delicious Indo-Chinese meal for everyone to enjoy whilst the speeches were performed. Once the final speech and cheers to the bride and groom had been made, the Dohl drummer led everyone into the Wedding Barn and straight into the first dance.
Mr and Mrs Sohail took to the floor as Perfect by Ed Sheeran and Beyonce played.
The DJ ensured everyone was up and dancing the whole night long, making sure Divya and Kieran had an unforgettable day filled with love and laughter!
Divya’s Memorable Moment:
“When I was walking up the aisle as it was the first time I had seen Kieran, and also the speeches as my dad and Kieran both said really sweet things which made me quite emotional”
What did Kieran think?
“Try and take in the day as much as possible. It goes so quickly!”
Advice for future couples
“Try and plan a small amount of time after the wedding ceremony where the two of you can be together to share a small private moment with no one else around”
