Before we wrapped things up with a well-deserved Christmas break for all our staff, we hosted our annual Christmas Ball at Heaton House Farm – two nights of incredible décor, extravagant entertainment and unforgettable fun.
Each year we do something different, and for 2017, we created an awe-inspiring Alpine theme. It took a lot of creative thinking, but it looked amazing.
We welcomed over 600 guests across the two evenings, to celebrate with us – from local companies and friends & family, to past and future couples who came from all around the country!
They knew they were in for something special from the moment we opened our doors.
A green and snowy arrival
As our guests walked up to the Entrance Barn, they were greeted with rows of fresh Christmas trees, dusted with snow atop a white, glistening carpet – the perfect mini winter forest to walk through!
Once inside, our rustic bar was serving glasses of prosecco, bottled beer and Wincle ale, whilst some intriguing ‘lost explorers’ were greeting passers-by and posing for selfies.
Music was provided by Jukebox Band Duet, as they serenaded guests in their Christmas jumpers with some classic carols.
Our rustic ski lodge
We’d gone all out to transform our wedding barn into an incredible ski lodge too, with a specially built rustic wooden bar – covered in bark and adorned with a mesmerising stag’s head looking out over the festivities.
Ski racks were set up, a cosy fireplace complete with wooden logs warmed the room, and fur blankets were on hand by the comfy sofas.
And of course, our stage was anything but traditional. Designed and built like snowy mountains that were perfect for skiing, we even had floating Christmas trees to add to the hillside effect! Our Apres Ski light letters stood proud on either side, beckoning dancers to the snowy-white dance floor.
Incredible, indulgent food
In our Steeles Barn, our alpine wonderland continued. Stunning wooden centrepieces and snowy floral effects had been donated by our florist suppliers, and the tables were all set for a feast!
Vanilla in Allseasons oversaw the menu on Friday night, whilst Barratts was in charge of food on the Saturday. Both caterers delivered an absolutely incredible selection of warming winter food and indulgent treats – across 4 sensational courses.
Some of the highlights included handmade chicken liver parfait with a truffle butter, and spiced parsnip & apple soup with herb croutons; Pan fried chicken breast and Chicken ballotineor spinach, roasted vegetable and ricotta strudel; Chocolate and salted caramel mousse and an Oreo crumb, raspberry panna cotta with a lemon shortbread, and a brandy snap basket of kirsch cream and mulled cherries! There was even some homemade fudge!
Partying, dancing and skiing the night away
Once the delicious food was finished, it was party time. We’d set up a wonderful igloo photobooth which was now open for guests to get a snapshot of the night and we had another surprise in store too.
A snowboard simulator!
Needless to say everyone fell off, but lots of fun was had by all! It was a big hit.
A big thanks to all our suppliers
As ever, the night(s) wouldn’t have been possible without the help, support and generosity of all our suppliers, and we want to say a big thank you to all of them.
- Entertainment was provided by Jukebox Band, The Beard Band, DJ Krissi B, and Stage Invaders (our Lost Explorers)
- Cartalia supplied all the stationary for the evening, SMH Photography captured all the festivities (a huge thank you for the wonderful photographs of the evening), Love Lights The Way and Lightech helped with all the set-up, FotoAuto supplied our igloo photobooth and L4 Leisure brought the snowboard simulator
It truly was an incredible night for all involved.
We’re already starting to plan and look forward to this year’s Christmas Ball!
