Whilst enjoying a holiday in Mexico, Ryan led Katy down the beach and along a walkway lined with candles to a table for two surrounded by rose petals. This made for a truly romantic evening and Katy was delighted when Ryan asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course, she said yes!
Once they got back, wedding planning had to start! Their first step was to pick their perfect venue and a date for their special day.
Katy spent some time searching Google to look for potential venues although she admits to only genuinely considering one option…
“The only one I wanted to view was Heaton House Farm”
Heaton House was the first venue they viewed, and the last. They immediately knew that this was the venue for them.
“The venue never left our minds”
Katy and Ryan loved how endless the possibilities were at Heaton House Farm and were excited that they could have anything they wanted. They also enjoyed how the venue was exclusive, unlike hotel venues, and were immediately impressed with the service provided by all of the staff.
With Heaton House Farm secured and a date picked, Katy started to plan a theme and organise the décor for the barns using Pinterest for inspiration.
A simple, floral and pink theme was selected and Venue Perfection helped bring Katy’s Pinterest board to life.
A collection of jars, simple pink flowers and floating candles were placed onto mirrors in the centre of the guest tables. The top table was lined with jars, vases of flowers and floating candles and a lace swag finished the look perfectly.
With the venue and décor planned, Katy started searching for her dress.
She spent some time looking online and knew when she had found the one. A stunning white ballgown style dress with a fitted bodice and full skirt covered in lace with delicate embroidered flowers and a stylish diamante band on the waistline, Katy immediately loved the dress.
To make sure she had picked right first time, Katy tried on four more dresses but thankfully this reassured her that she had chosen correctly.
To accessorize, Katy selected a simple bracelet and a classic silver tiara alongside her veil, as she doesn’t usually wear jewellery, she decided a few timeless pieces would suit her better.
Katy asked her sister to be her only bridesmaid and picked out a simple, pale pink floor length dress for her to wear.
Meanwhile, Ryan was busy sorting out what he and his groomsmen were going to wear. He picked out a smart navy suit paired with a patterned ivory waistcoat and pale pink tie, pocket square and corsage.
Everything was ready to go, the only thing Katy and Ryan had to do was start getting ready for one of the best days of their lives.
Katy got ready at Heaton House with her family and enjoyed opening her presents and a card from her husband-to-be!
The moment Katy’s dad saw her provided a magical moment as he couldn’t hold back his tears. Once they were sorted, they prepared to walk up the aisle to his favourite song ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis Presley.
Although Katy knew what Ryan was wearing, it was still a surprise when she saw him waiting for her and she was hit with emotion as this was the moment they had been waiting for. Katy thought Ryan looked more handsome than ever!
Their beautiful ceremony took place Under the Night Sky and once the register had been signed and rings exchanged, Katy and Ryan walked down the aisle to ‘Chasing Cars’ by Snow Patrol.
Thanks to the wonderful weather, the guests managed to get outside with their drinks and have a go on the bouncy castle whilst Mr and Mrs Harper enjoyed having some photographs taken.
Everyone was ushered into Steele’s Barn so they could take their seats ready for the arrival of the Bride and Groom. Katy and Ryan entered to a huge applause as they looked delighted at how everything had come together.
The traditional 3 course meal was enjoyed by all before the speeches were delivered by Katy’s father, Ryan and his Best Man. The speeches were delightful and had Katy grinning from ear to ear!
Once the speeches had ended, everyone made their way to the bar for the evening reception. Katy and Ryan took to the dancefloor to cut the cake before performing their first dance to ‘Feels like Home’ by Chantal Kreviazuk.
Katy enjoyed a special moment with her father as they danced to ‘I loved her first’ by Heartland.
The band, bouncy castle and sweet cart kept the guests entertained throughout the evening and ensured they finished their day on a high!
Katy’s Memorable Moment:
“My favourite moment was when I walked up the aisle and saw Ryan’s face. Everything we had wished for all happened in those few moments. It was unforgettable.”
What did Ryan think?
“Always let the wife deal with the finer details…they spot everything ha ha!”
Advice for future couples:
“Enjoy your day and take in each and every second it goes so quick. Plan your wedding how you wish it to be, you can’t please everybody. Don’t stress.”
