3 commentsTop 10 tips for entertaining children By Sarah on 05/02/2011 at 12:36 Tags: balloons, cameras, children, clowns, crèche, entertainers, entertainment, inflatables, outdoor games One of the most popular questions that we get asked at Heaton House Farm is do we allow children. Well, of course we do! Children are often an important part of your big day with many couples now having children before marriage; you have the perfect ready-made flower girl or page boy! Some clients decide not to have children as they can be a little noisy and distracting, especially during the more intimate parts of the day, such as the vows or speeches, but in case you do want to include children here are Heaton House Farm’s top tips for keeping them amused through these special moments.
-
Goodie Bags A fantastic way to keep the little ones occupied during the meal time. Why not theme your bags with your colour scheme and give your ushers or bridesmaids the responsibility of handing them out? You don’t have to spend a fortune and they can be packed full of little toys and interactive puzzles, but don’t forget the bubbles!
-
Colouring books Very cost effective way of keeping them occupied, just make sure that you get washable colouring pencils or crayons, as you don’t want to be charged for any damaged linen.
-
Crèches Crèches are great for the younger ones, should they require a little more attention. Although you might be surprised to know that at most weddings, the children are still going well in to the night, whilst the adults are ready for bed!
-
Clowns If you want to add a bit of humour and colour to your wedding, then this is the perfect way! Try the Rapide Brothers for a reliable and entertaining service.
-
Children’s Entertainers and Magicians Using an entertainer such as Magic Philip is great for children. There will be lots of fun, comedy, colour and laughter! You might find that some of your older guests also enjoy this!
-
Balloon Modelling Balloon Modelling isn’t seen as often, but there are some very skilled and talented modellers out there. Snaggers entertains not only little children, but bigs ones too, and is able to make a tiny turtle or a massive motorbike out of an amazing array of balloons!
-
TV, films and games consoles Place a TV in a quieter area of the venue (The reception barn is perfect at Heaton House Farm) and play films all night, or add a Nintendo Wii or Xbox to bring out their competitive streak!
-
Outdoor games Giant games such as giant Jenga or Connect 4 are perfect for summer weddings where you have a bit of outdoor space (available to hire from Heaton House Farm). Why not ask someone to organise a few childhood games such as a 3 legged race or sack race people of all ages can take part in.
-
Disposable cameras It’s great to give the kids a bit of responsibility, so why not give them disposable cameras to take photos of your guests. You never know what you might find when you get them developed!
-
Inflatable’s Bouncy castles are great fun. Check with your venue what their policy is, as many will require insurance and a supervisor. A company such as PA Promotions will provide this service along with a variety of other inflatable games.

xxx Add a commentWe have a winner! By Sarah on 12/01/2011 at 09:27 Tags: press, wincle beer company After posting about the name our new beer competition, we decided to run it as a competition in the Macclesfield Express - which somewhat delayed our deadline for choosing the name.
We have had numerous brilliant entries, thank you to those of you who took part and sent them in. Some of our favourite names were:
Hitched @ Heaton
"I Do" Brew
Hops and Dreams
Hoppily Ever After
But we do finally have a winner. Well done to one of our brides to be, Kessiah Turnock who chose the name:
Nuptial Nectar
With a name like that, who can resist trialling our new brew?
We are now starting work on the artwork for the label itself, and when it's done, a case of Nuptual Nectar will be winging it's way out to Kessaih. Add a commentName That Beer Competition By Sarah on 12/01/2011 at 09:24 Tags: competition, wincle beer company
Heaton House Farm and the Wincle Beer Company have teamed up to launch a "Name that Beer" competition for a brand new brew that the Wincle Beer Company is making exclusively for Heaton House Farm's bar.
The beer itself is a light and fruity ale perfect for a summers day wedding and can be enjoyed by both men and women alike.
The name we are looking for should reflect Heaton House Farm and/or our love of weddings.
Out of the entries we receive we will pick our favourite three and let you vote for the winner. The winner will then receive a case of three bottles of the beer labeled up with the winning name.
The deadline date for entries is Monday 17th May 2010 @ midday, so get them in quick. You can make an entry by using the comment button below, by posting on our Facebook page or by emailing us directly: weddings@heatonhouse.co.uk.
